Today's rant:
While we're at it, let's charge them with child abuse. Now that Rachel Corrie has joined the great jihad in the sky, we need to do a few "housekeeping" details. First of all, let's stop humanizing her. We don't need memorials as a "peace activist". She wasn't for peace, she gave aid and comfort to terrorists, in violation of Federal law. We've declared that anyone who gives aid/comfort to groups on the Federal terrorism group list has committed treason, a most serious charge if they've given "aid" and/or "comfort" to an enemy of our Country. The terrorists she was aiding are on the recognized Federal list. She had no business flying to the Gaza Strip. She wasn't of Arab or Jewish decent, and no family members in jeopardy there. She was there PURELY to further her ultra-liberal feelings and give her the illusion that she was making the world a better place. How you can feel that way when you're supporting terrorism is beyond me. Secondly, since her parents have stated publicly that she has a long history of these compulsive behaviors, I think they have complicity and blame in her death. They should've beaten the crap out of her when she started down this path. But, being over-indulgent and sensitivity-impaired parents who obviously had more money than mental capacity, they indulged her every whim instead of kicking her in the ass when she needed it most. I think that any parent who raises a child who goes to aid terrorists should be charged with child abuse. Thirdly, we need to kick their asses. Don't give me any of this crap about their loss. They lost their daughter when they started telling her to be sensitive and compassionate to every cause, and when they sent her to a liberal hotspot (instead of a college that teaches you things useful in life), and when they paid to support her as she flew into a terrorist camp. To the Vice President of Student Affairs at Olympia State College, who called her a "shining star", you are an ass-clown. You have sent that girl to her death, and should be charged with "reckless endangerment leading to her eventual death" for filling her mind with thoughts that she could stand in front of a bulldozer and it would magically stop. You helped place her there. You should share the blame. To her grieving parents, this is what happens when you don't teach your children the difference between idealism and empathy. There is legitimate suffering for people within the Palestinian-controlled areas that Israel has given to them (in exchange for the promise of peace, which has not been honored by those Palestinians) to create their own peaceful areas. If their leaders would give the money they're received to their people, or at least buy them food and water, there would be less suffering. But, since their hatred for Jews and the State of Israel exceeds their desire to take care of their own people, there will continue to be suffering. If they'd teach something other than hate, maybe they could start some industry. You make your bed, now lie in it. There are two sides to this world right now, and if you're not on the side of Freedom and Liberty, you're an enemy of this great nation. One last thought: Rachel Corrie loved the Freedoms that this Country gave her - yet she went to another Country and sided with people that would kill her for nothing more than showing her face in public. How sad. She didn't appreciate the things she took for granted. Now she has lost them all.
Asked, and answered. Democrats called on President Bush this weekend to do something about the economy. So, Bush is having a press conference Monday night to announce that we're going to war with Iraq this week. The Democrats, who are found of complaining about the situation that they created that they've left for someone else to deal with and offer no solutions of their own, have once again called on President Bush to "fix" the economy. They complain of unemployment, gas prices, and a weak stock market. Let's deal with these one at a time. Unemployment is "high" now at around 5-6%. I seem to remember that we've seen it in the 10% range during the Carter administration. So, it's bad, but not THAT bad. Well, it will pick up when the stock market and investor confidence is up. As bad as it is, (and being unemployed myself, it is bad) if you examine the causes, you will see that they point to the SAME Democrats who broke the situation to begin with. It was the Democrats who caused the stock market to tank in the first place. How, do you ask, did they manage that? Clinton, in all of his finite wisdom, when he wasn't poking that fat slut in the oval office, decided that CEOs of major corporations weren't entitled to salaries higher than himself, so they raised the taxes on high income earners. To compensate, those CEOs restructured their contracts to take stock options in lieu of more salaries. So, they had a problem. How to raise those stock prices? Well, they could lie and take money that wasn't income and add it to real income and artificially inflate their income to declare lots of money being made. This was illegal, but it got the job done. The inspiration for this brainstorm? Congress. They've been doing this for YEARS during the Clinton administration by taking Social Security money and adding it to the general income pool of money. So, as a result, SSA will join Enron when it comes bankrupt sometime before 2020. Congressmen have some nerve interrogating corporate executives and accuse them of fraud and theft for doing EXACTLY the same strategy that they've done for years. As far as gas prices go, that's pure supply and demand. Recent problems in California and past problems in Venezuela have contributed to higher prices, combined with Congressional regulations on gas formulations (and additional state regulations that pushed Illinois prices so high a couple of years ago). It is said that once the war is over, (and it will be, quickly) prices will drop. So, the unemployment rate will drop when the market recovers, the market will improve once we get this war over with, and gas prices will fall. In the meantime, Democrats will look for more glass to cast stones at, and they will still not offer any more suggestions on how to fix anything, except maybe by passing a few more stupid laws.
How about another penny? The county in which I live has once again asked for "just a penny" (additional sales tax) for improvements to roads, parks, etc. This is after we just told them NO to another penny sales tax for a new jail. Oh, but this tax will pay for wider roads, more traffic lights, blah blah blah. We already pay SEVEN PERCENT on every dollar spent and they need more? Their lust for my money has no quenching. If we approved fifty cents more, I'd be willing to bet that within two years they'd be back asking for "just another penny". They have no shame in asking for it, too. They spend money (that could be spent on traffic lights and wider roads) to put signs at nearly every intersection telling us to vote for Yet Another New Tax (YANT). They give the taxes cute names like "SPLOST" (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) hoping that we'll suspend brain activity long enough to give them more money, when clearly they can't figure out how to widen roads with the hundreds of millions they've collected so far. They just built a rather expensive looking city hall. Maybe they should've kept the old building, and USED THE MONEY TO WIDEN THE ROADS, knuckleheads. No matter how many pennies you give them, they will always want another penny. I'd sooner give my money to Miss Cleo, who at least you know is going to squander your money with no accountability. Now, they always tell you that the money will be used for road projects or parks, but is there any guarantee that they won't use it to take junkets to Las Vegas? What about the other THREE PERCENT that they're taking currently? Isn't there already money for parks and traffic lights and paving in there? Maybe they need to cut some other spending if they need more money for roads. Here's an idea - let's take all of the illegal aliens off of public assistance (since they don't have any right to be here anyway - they came here illegally) and take all of those cost savings and use that money for traffic lights or wider roads. We should give it a snappy name too - something like "kick the [Mexi-] 'can". With the money that we save paying for them to squirt kids out quicker than they can name them (they run out of Saint's names after the 15th kid), we can have a traffic light in every driveway. Better yet, let's keep them, since everyone needs a nicely mowed lawn, and make it illegal to employ them as "day laborers" by contractors without a W-2 and I-9. That way, we can get them into the system, TAX THE EVER LOVING SHIT OUT OF THEM, and they'd be paying for their own services. Let's also make sure that if they don't have a driver's license and insurance, we put them in jail until they've paid for their tickets and car accidents, and the wonderful "ad velorum" taxes that the rest of us pay each year on the value of the vehicles that we already own. What's up with that? We pay a tax on stuff we've already bought? What's next? They're going to come tax you for your big TV? Well, if we let the ass-clowns tax us each year for stuff we already own, what's to stop them from doing it for other things? And you people wonder why I vote Libertarian?
