Senator Byrd, you're officially lower than snail snot on the evolutionary chain. I know I'm no fan of the former Klansman. But I can overlook that to a point. A man's past is his past. Unless he hasn't changed.

I've noticed an odd trend in politics on the Left. I call it "counter-projection".

Projection is defined (I'm picking on one definition here) by Webster's dictionary as:

"the attribution of one's own ideas, feelings, or attitudes to other people or to objects; especially : the externalization of blame, guilt, or responsibility as a defense against anxiety"

I would like you to just stop and read that again. "The attribution of one's own ideas... to other people." For example, when a "former" Klansman calls the President a "Nazi", that would be the former's ideological stance being projected by him to a perceived opponent. The best part is what follows though: "the externalization of... guilt, or responsibility as a defense against anxiety."

So, Robert (KKK) Byrd feels guilt for his racial and religious hatred, and anxiety towards Bush. I guess you don't have to be Freud to figure out that this nut-sack is just a blanket away from crying out for mommy. It must really be something to show your pent-up guilt and frustration by hating a man for having a moral base (something you know little about).

I'm not surprised by your outburst. Liberals have a long-standing tradition of projection. Take Kerry's "questioning" of other people's patriotism, and attacking their views on issues. How about Hillary's grand "right-wing conspiracy?" In the context of projection, it adds new depth. It isn't limited to Liberals OR politicians. You can look at so many people and see into their hearts with it.
