Here's a funny quote:

"We will be back again and again and again until we end the cruel restrictions on lifesaving research that are denying hope to millions of American patients and their families."

Who said this? Ted-the-Head Kennedy. The man who's head size is only exceeded by his waistline.

But you'd think this ass-dart would avoid mentioning "lifesaving" at all costs.

As usual, Mary Jo Kopechne could not be reached for comment.

Now that I've taken my usual cheap shot at the Senate's longest-serving killer, I'll actually talk about the issue that Kennedy is (as usual) misleading the ignorant flocks (average voters) about.

His "cruel restrictions on lifesaving research" that is "denying hope to millions of American patients and their families" sounds like Bush is trying to stop scientists from curing cancer!

But the bill that Bush vetoed doesn't restrict research, and it doesn't deny hope. The rhetoric used is more scaremongering that Democrats use. But it is misleading at best, and dishonest at worst.

Hope is internal to each person - so if you lose hope, you have only yourself to blame.

As for his claim that the bill restricts research, that is just plain false.

There are no restrictions on stem cell research. None. The only thing CLOSE to a restriction is that Federal tax dollars cannot be used to fund it. That's all.

What that means is that the Federal Government can't point a gun at me and take my earning to spend on that one kind of research. And it only applies to fetal stem cells, not even adult stem cells.

But don't let facts get in the way of Ted Kennedy.

See what else I have to say Previous day's rant
