I always wondered if nit-wits like my Uncle were alone in the world. I found out that there are in fact many, many more. Is he a nit-wit because he votes Democrat? No, they just attract people of his ilk. The same man that accused me of being a Cuban (is that really an insult?) for getting Baby Spooge's ears pierced early in her life also called me a flaming Republican. I guess he thought that would have been an insult.
So, let's set a few things straight. We know many good Cubans. My Uncle wants to share a cigar with Clinton - I hope he gets a yeast infection on his lip. And although I oppose the Republicans platform of attempting to legislate their particular morality into law, their lowering of the tax rates will help this Country recover from the economic down-turn that Clinton set in motion before he left office. Although Bush has increased the size (and expense) of government more than any other President since FDR's New (raw?) Deal, he's also finally restored some dignity to the White House. A rapist no longer lives there. Enough said.
So, today I'm reading The Best of the Web Today (if you don't, you're only getting 1/2 the news) when I see this screed from "a 58 year old broad":
The only way to get rid of this slime bag WASP-Mafia, oil barron ridden cartel of a government, this assault on Americans and anything one could laughingly call "a democracy", relies heavily on what a shit hole Iraq turns into. They need to die so that we can be free. Soldiers usually did that directly--i.e., fight those invading and harming a country. This time they need to die in defense of a lie from a lying adminstration to show these ignorant, dumb Americans that Bush is incompetent. They need to die so that Americans get rid of this deadly scum. It is obscene, Barbie Bush, how other sons (of much nobler blood) have to die to save us from your Rosemary's Baby spawn and his ungodly cohorts.
It's the complete lack of honesty and understanding of our Country that scares me. I mean, there's 48,000,000+ people in this Country who voted for a man who took credit for inventing the Internet, and couldn't form an opinion without looking at poll results. Inventing the Internet? Gore probably didn't even know that it was a DARPA project to for m a fault-tolerant network for global tracking capabilities during the "space race". Heck, he probably thinks that the "T" in TCP/IP stands for "Tipper". And don't even get me started on her.
Anyway, back to the facts at hand. Anyone who attended a real school knows that our Country is not a democracy, but rather a Constitutional republic. But it doesn't surprise me that a Democrat wouldn't want to recognize the Rule of Law - it doesn't help their cause. Also, notice that the U.S. hasn't taken 1 drop of Iraqi oil, even as payment for freeing them from their oppressive ruler. All of this "oil" talk is a red herring, designed to prey on the weak-minded who engage in class warfare out of their own greed. But the truly horrible part of this rant is that this individual thinks that Americans (and in particular American soldiers) should die for her own political agenda. She also fancies herself smarter than the "dumb Americans" who voted Bush into power, and even today still support a free Iraq.
I find it amusing that those who proclaim "democracy" the loudest are the first ones to stand in the way of any other country from becoming democratic. Do they only consider themself entitled to live in Freedom?
