Jump right to the rehab pool

The Rush Limbaugh celebrity rehab pool is now on! In all fairness to my liberal brethren, turnabout is fair play. After some time picking on the Angry Left, I've found a new target. Since the Far Right has been keeping things simple, the Angry Left has been the more plentiful of targets, but Rush has decided to give me a few easy lay-ups this week.

OK, so Rush has admitted he's addicted to pain-killers. I feel your pain, brother. Well, not literally. You see, I'm not addicted to anything, except for Mrs. Spoogeworld and Baby Spooge. And good music. Oh yeah, and maybe chocolate. And Diet Coke with Lemon. And ribeye steaks big enough to cause convulsions for any PETA member. OK, actually I have a few hang-ups. But at least I'm not a slave to pills. Having never really been addicted to anything, I don't know what it's like to have that chemical chain around my head. But that doesn't mean that it isn't funny when someone who's high profile falls down. Their lofty hollier-than-thou attitude makes the trip just thud with more echo, in my book.

Now, I have a heart (someone, so they say). So, I'm not going to talk about the tasty air of superiority I feel when someone who talks about morals so heavily falls flat on his laurels. It's really sad, in a way. He's so full of good ideas (at times), yet he never stopped to take stock of his own moral compass and realize he was south of his Equator. Most of us travel the path between the Tropic of Capricorn and Tropic of Cancer, metaphorically, throughout our lives. Some of us even stay between the Tropic of Cancer and the Equator.

When someone who harps about other people's morals has a lapse, it's always a media circus in the news, especially when that person is not a liberal. For example, the media paid little attention to Jesse Jackson's little "affair" with Karin Stanford that netted him another mouth to feed, even though he was counciling the Liar-in-Chief at the time about marital fidelity. But when Newt Gingrich had an affair, it was cause for him to disappear from the spotlight altogether, according to the editorials. This bias will again be exposed as Rush will be pressured from various media nit-wits to resign from his job as the "Godfather" of talk radio. He made a slip. Many before him have fallen, and most have gotten back up. If Rush is made to resign, then someone whose recklessness resulted in death, say, Ted Kennedy, should also be forced to resign.

May I digress from the mainstream of this symposium? Thank you. Anyway, since Rush is in the media spotlight, I feel the need to poke a few jabs at his soft underbelly. I will miss his insight on players from ESPN, but I understand that speaking the truth will get you into trouble. I am living proof of this.

Anyway, here's the pool. The rules are simple. Pick a day, spend a buck. The goal is to guess the day that Rush returns to the air. Paypal to prophet_5@hotmail.com and choose your date in the comments. As I get requests, I will update the calendar to block off those days. Days in WHITE are available, days in YELLOW are taken. If you win, you will receive credit on this website, along with your choice of EITHER writing your own "guest blog" (sans editing except for legally-necessary content) OR directing me to write about the topic of your choice. Sound good? What do you expect for a buck? And from an unemployed man, no less!
